Addressing Co-Occurring Disorders
A Six-Part Virtual Education Series for Medical Professionals
Substance use and mental health disorders often go hand-in-hand, with the National Institute on Drug Abuse estimating that about half of those who experience a substance use disorder will experience a mental illness during their lives, and vice versa.
Addressing co-occurring disorders together can help prevent increased costs, duplication of services, and – most importantly – poor outcomes. In partnership with the Baylor College of Medicine and the Harris Health System, this 6-part educational series hosted by The Council on Recovery's Center for Co-Occurring Disorders provides medical professionals with the tools they need to address substance use with other mental health disorders in their patients for an integrated, more effective approach to treatment.
